LAST Surgery

Donating Medical Equipment

Anaesthetic machines donated by St Helier hospital

There is a critical shortage of even the most basic equipment in hospitals in Malawi. LAST takes the majority of the equipment it needs on training missions both in and out of the operating theatre. The majority of hernia surgery is performed under spinal or local anaesthetic and most District Hospitals can only run a single theatre so any teaching time on elective cases competes with the pressures of emergency cases. This recent donation to two different hospitals (link) will increase the range of surgery that can be delivered.
